As a result of being woken at 4am by my insomniac 2 year old, I had this finished by 7am.

A pleasing puzzle with a fun end-game.

Would someone explain why 34ac is TUBER (swelling).
Also how is the jumbled 27ac "someone"?

Unclued,

Tubing is a sport involving sliding down snow-covered slopes in tyres (or tires if you're an American!).

I agree that 'someone' is v. misleading.

The preamble should have used 'somewhere' instead of 'someone'. 16 is not in the 2008 edition either and possibly there should have been reference to 14 being half acronym.

I think 'someone' is OK. Initially, I was foxed too!

Think about another word for the title which is an anagram indicator which, in turn, is needed after the place.

'BSI' is the intended phrase and this defines one of a group of characters.

I have a complete grid, including 27ac, except for one letter - the last letter of 46. There are only a limited number of words which fit and none of them seem to have any connection with the clue. The clue looks like a thematic one, but I already have the 10. Can anyone help?

Hi Escuan

46a is thematic.

Anagram of open. Pone

Thank you. I had "in" as the 2nd word in 22, not "up". No wonder I couldn't solve 46!
