I think it is 'abating' = humiliating , but where does the ugly woman come in? Or am I on the wrong track?

Hi Albert - quite like the idea of 'bag' for ugly woman but can we say of a sin that it is necessarily a humiliating offence?

i see it as,
Humiliating = the definition.
offence = sin, which is inside (breaks) A Bag.
