I tend to struggle with this type of puzzle where there's a lot of up front solving - not being able to rely on letters from cross clues.
I have the two 11-letter answers plus others, but not a critical mass to start populating.
If someone could help by identifying the clues for the two 10-letter answers then I could concentration my efforts on those.
Appreciated.

I always number the clues in this sort of puzzle and they are 18 and 29 ( beginning Satanic and Cl;ass ). I have a completed grid apart form the perimeter. I can also work out what needs to be written below the grid. The only word I can get in the comment winds its way round the N-W corner. Couild somebody please tell me where the author's name begins.

Thank you alwayspuzzled.
You are far more advanced than I am - so, can't help with the author just yet

Thank you Djawhufc. It looks as if my team may not be playing yours next season. Seven defeats on the bounce is not good news.

I share your pain- being a football fan unless with one of the very big sides is not always a pleasant experience.

Indeed, my football team crashed out of the Championship Play-Off at Wembley last year after a 89" goal - I believe the scorer had done that before for another team in a previous year.

Struggling second to last clue, can partially parse to CATEGORISE but clashes with some of my down entries.
