Also don't understand Most reliable sailor with yen to be alone. I'm guessing SOLITARY. Tar + y in soli. What is soli?

as in reliable = solid

And I agree it's getting harder, but I like it better! I'm still struggling with two clues - and I shall enjoy the tussle!
