THE LINK – 2

(I'm posting this earlier than I first intended, in the hope of catching the attention of voters on Peer Review.)

(As the format of this competition hasn’t been hallowed by long usage, I am trying a tweak.)
This competition is an attempt to replicate the cross-referencing sometimes used in crosswords. I will give three “linkwords”, numbered, for convenience, 1, 2 and 3. These make two possible pairs to be clued; you can choose either (or both, but in separate entries). Your clue must reference the word you haven’t chosen, giving its number.
For example, if the words were:
1 SUPER 2 KING 3 KONG
A clue might be:
1-size ape? (4,4)
(The Super Kings are an IPL cricket side, so this is a valid pairing!)
The entries close at 1 p.m. BST on Sunday. Anyone who has entered a clue can then vote for their favourite entry (please include the post number); voting closes at 6 p.m. BST Monday. The entry with the most votes gives that entrant the right to set the next week’s challenge.
Multiple entries are welcome, and new competitors particularly so! Feel free to explain your clue if you think it will help but please refrain from commenting on entries until voting has begun.
In the event of a tie, or any other unforeseen problem, the setter makes a decision.

The setter will declare the winner and award an online prize.
This week’s words are:
1 FUNNY 2 BONE 3 CHINA

Have fun, and good luck!

Chris, I don't want to cross swords with you, but have you added a degree of complexity? I'm not clear about what the rules are, as Les's suggestion had only 2 words.

Have I got this right? We could chose to clue funny bone or bone china
If we chose funny bone, then the clue must refer to china? And if bone china, then the clue must refer to funny? I've got brain ache.

That's what I intended, rosalind - it seems a little more structured than Les's original idea.
