Is charm something ginge cashes in on? (5,7)

Hint: We're totally caught up in it over here. Just wondering if it hops our borders to reach you hard-core betting types.

Hi aristo, you've certainly got me intrigued. The "clue" leads me to "March madness" but other than it's "historical" connotations re behaviour it's not ringing any bells. Mmmm!

Having just googled the expression I see it's an ongoing basketball tournament, am I on the right tracks or way off base?

You've got it! There are four regions, north, south, east, and west, 16 teams in each. Millions of people (including the president) fill out their brackets before the tournament begins. The later stages are called the Sweet Sixteen, the Elite Eight, and the Final Four. Last year Warren Buffett offered a billion dollars (I'm pretty sure that was the amount) to anyone who filled out the brackets with complete accuracy. Nobody cashed in. My team made it into the Sweet Sixteen yesterday. One of the four #1 seeds was already eliminated, and a #2 seed just a few minutes ago. You'd love it. Almost everyone's betting on Kentucky to win the whole thing. I hope they don't.

Great stuff aristo and long may your selection continue to win. I know some "gamblers" consider it unlucky to divulge their bet so I won't press you but I'd appreciate an update (in/out) round by round and if your bracket is still a possible winner.
Love the concept, pity I know hee-haw about basketball in terms of form otherwise an interest next March a distinct possibility ! ?
The cricket world cup has reached the semifinal stage and I've still got an interest at odds well in excess of those currently quoted and although not in direct competition with BBM2 in terms of the outright winner, his bet is on the leading individual scorer for the tournament, we are now in direct opposition; he's going down !

Text keeps disappearing and reappearing on posting, only on this site when my post exceeds the parameters of the text box, so ignore the duplication of the last paragraph.
Syzygy emailed me the WSJ puzzle but haven't looked at it yet (I now assume there's a connection), Sunday is an all day in the pub(s) shot, so tomorrow hopefully.
