Apparently NITON was the original suggestion as the name for RADON (I didn't know that, and I was a chemist!)

Limb or limn (to draw or paint) could be either from the way the clue is written. You need the crosser to confirm which.

Looks like limb but that screws niton for 23a.

That's curious as both niton and limn/limb look OK. What messes up 23a?

Hi paulm, ab also provided limn as a possibility and as to being a "god" I reckon my destiny is somewhat in the opposite direction.
