I set clues just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT) to allow others to have a go.

2. Remains unmoved as bears go without food (6,4)

3. Exploit outmoded long rifle barrels without ends. (4)

4. A bed with wild narcissi catches light in South Pacific (8,7)

5. Anybody see a detective following a prostitute with badger? (3,4,3,5)

Miserable here, so I'll probably be in all afternoon.

I think I've got #4, but I'm not entirely happy about the first three letters! (I think I have come across the reference, though.)

Hi Chris. Nice to see you. It's slightly showery here. More sun than showers. Those first three letters will be a "definition" in both Chambers and the Oxford.

I've got #5 about half done, I think!
