8 it depends which the "beginning" refers to - TILL if it's TO; FILL if it's FEEL. Neither definition is very good - difficult to choose.

But, "fill" serves no use unless it is part of the wordplay.

sorry, "feel" has no use unless it provides the F.

Also, fill "could be" stones whereas till is always stones.

Fill it is and teak, I like the explanations although im not sure about this setter.
