Thank you jazzgirl for your two replies. In the meantime I did google for SAS dramas and I cannot say I have ever heard of it. However crossword now complete.

Hope you are well and your garden beginning to grow again. Mine is with a few snowdrops and other things starting but I expect you are much further on.

I am sadly lacking snowdrops (I think the squirrel may have something to do with it !) but plenty of crocus and a few tete a tete. The grass is growing fast.... soon be time for the mower to come out of the shed.

I have a city that also is dogs (plural), but I don't see the "hot" (except that the city is subtropical - is that all?)

20a is just a plural of the terrier and is also a city in Australia. Bit of a poor clue I feel unless I have missed something

Yes, I agree. I suppose we are expected to think of "hot dogs" rather than "just "dogs".

Maybe it was the "setter"s (no doggy pun intended) idea of a joke and should have put a ? at the end.
Or, a double definition: this city is hot; dogs
