Just got 8d and 11d to go - but can't make any headway arrrgh!

thanks to all the hints given . I couldn't get started on this one at first but now with your help have got all down answers except 6D and 7D. Any hints would be appreciated . A hint to 7D has already been given but still doesn't seem to fit because the first letter begins with a 'dash' from 1A 'TARTAR'. Perhaps my interpretation of the hint is wrong. Unfortunately I'm struggling with most of Across clues and therefore wont be able to confirm my Down answers !! Must say not impressed with this EV.

Thank you D JA and all others who helped. Uncle, the dash at the start of 7 is correct. Just 9 which I had somehow overlooked to get.
