17 across: Procedure whereby doctor gets some out of the door (7,7). I think the answer is keyhole surgery, but cannot parse the last part of the clue, which does not read very well. Thanks in advance for help.

Keyhold surgery fits with all crossing clues. I just take the clue to be a kind of joke/pun?

Thanks jazzgirl, but I can't see it as either a joke or a pun. I'm sure that I'm missing something here. Cheers Roger

i have keyhole surgery, too.
A keyhole is part of a door, and recovery is quicker from it, hence out of the door?
Not much help I am afraid!

Hi Roger ,jazzgirl Agrree with keyhole surgery.
As a medical proceedure where you go in by a "keyhole "
entry (part of door ) to bring something out .It does have a question mark at the end of the sentence/after door.

Assuming this is correct, (I got it from the definition) - can anyone explain the reference to 'Half an...'?

1d. Half an impasse (5,3) - STAND OFF (Impasse)
