elle. I am sure you are right, but Chambers Dictionary also offers the noun DIRIGISME. Either would fit the grid.

I debated which to pick, Michael - coming down on the side of DIRIGISTE as that is an adjective and the clue sounded like an adjectival phrase to me - and DIRIGISME is a noun. I could well be wrong! any other input welcome!
