Other than PB for 'Lead', I'm at a loss.

If A is 'Area', why is 'Broken-down' US?

7d. Winning letter repeated for writer? (1,3,7) - V FOR VICTORY (Winning letter)

I get 'Repeated' part, but what is the reference to 'Writer'?

I presume the clue means you wouldn't just write 'V' and expect your meaning to be understood , you's write the whole word.

Arrrrgh - Unless they mean 'W' for writer which is like two Vs together - That's bad.
