If you read "m" as "t" you get an author from the work he writes.

Not much of a challenge really, but mustn't grumble after last week's torment. Can anyone explain the reasoning behind 31dn? Otherwise, home and dry.

Ionacarr, I think it's "adieu" without its heart, in ETD - all backwards.

Just finishing off. Never tried The Listener before. Good fun, I thought, but slightly confused about 12 Across. I've got 'singing', but the line on the grid comes between the final n and g. Could this be a printing mistake or am I way off?

If you look up the original title your question will be answered.

Thanks, cloverjo, I'd been staring at 'ta' for so long I don't think I'd have worked out the rather complex structure required.

Aah, thanks Ionacarr. I should've read the preamble more carefully. I toyed with leaving off that g, but then I thought it didn't add up. DOH.

I've finished apart from one letter - the unchecked letter in 17 across. I know what it probably is, but to confirm it I should be glad of a nudge for the play/film/book title for that clue. I know of three Lake Poets, but there are an awful lot of Prime Ministers.
