Greetings and a Happy New Year to all Crossword Solvers everywhere from a newbie. This last clue has me stumped:
39d So cross regulars of my club hid cash, afraid to turn up (9)
I have: I ? A ? C ? B ? Y.
I hazard "irascibly," but so cross would be "irascible", no?
