17ac, 'Fifty in number beyond the maximum, but it's missing focus', (9), L?M?L?G?T. Limelight? I cannot parse.

(Raining almost all day here in Bristol: thank heavens for the Jumbo. I have done the other clues, and therefore, i.e. if I can do them, it must be one of the less difficult ones.

"fifty in number" gives L in EIGHT. That leaves LIMT. I wonder if the compiler has made a mistake and was thinking of LIMIT ("the maximum")

.....actually I've made a mistake - it's just LIM (still can't see this bit, though)

That is exactly what occurs to me. 'Limit' can be found in 'limelight', but the rest is untidy. And what about 'missing focus'?

IT missing from LIMIT, with FOCUS the definition

So 'limelight' = focus. Thanks.
