I've filled in the grid and got the phrase revealed by the across clues. And that's it. There seem to be opposite characters in the end columns, but one of them appears to be surrounded by BOYAT (?). But I'm unable to identify the six regularly spaced letters to make thematic changes to in order to reveal other things. Any hints gratefully received.

orson - I think you made the same mistake as me with 40Ac. The entered answer is ONTS with an extra U - that gives you a word in Chambers around your 5 letter name. Look vertically down the centre of the grid for the changes. Good luck!

Seasonal greetings to fellow solvers. It is much more fun to have solve mates! I am nearly done with this one - wish I had looked at the site sooner -would have saved time. However stuck with 30a and 12d and 27 which looks like mallard but is probably to do with a camera or a gun. Assume 25 is Seville.
