Hi Kingfisher,
I understand that you say all the letters are correct.
But I do agree with jazzgirl.
Is it possible for you to give the clue for the crossing 'C' as the possibility of another synonym may produce the letter 'M' to fit with mole.
: )

I am presuming (quite probably wrongly! by the thread title, that the answer will be the name of a river.
There is a River Croe in North West Scotland.
There is a Crow River in Minnesota.
I cant see where "groyne" would come in?
Also a River Coe in Scotland, plus "r" for river.
If your letters are wrong, then Mole looks bang on.
I am flummoxed!

Here's some interesting facts on the River Mole in Surrey, very close to where I lived when it flooded this year

Very interesting, Jazzgirl.
A couple of things.
The OP has "Groyne. In river."
Then "Groyne in river."
Which is it?
And we dont know which crossword this is from.
Nor are we sure if the crossing letters are correct.
I would be surprised if Mole is wrong.
