10D I can't see the connection between Christmas song and the answer. It's a song but no clear link to Xmas as far as I can see Can anyone help?

What is the clue please? Not all of us have the crossword and we like to help if we can.

It appears on many Christmas albums, , especially Harry Belafonte's version. It is a little girl's "prayer" possibly to Santa Claus for some scarlet ribbons which mysteriously appear even though all the shops were closed and shuttered

Thanks jazzgirl. What you have said is what I discovered as well but nothing in the song's words suggests Xmas, nor does the origins of the song from what I could discover and Wikipedia doesn't even hint at it being about Xmas. Just seemed a tenuous link to me.

For others the clue is: Christmas song causing strain? Cobblers!
