One to go in this crossword - just can't see what it can be.

I have: ?A?R?R

Not sure if answer is a river in France or if "river" in clue refers to last letter "R" - so could be a 5 letter word for "cleaner" followed by "R" for a place in France or a 6 letter word synonymous with "cleaner".
I've got my tea-tray handy for when answer (probably obvious) is known.

Ah! Thanks very much mattrom - I was on completely the wrong track! Was stuck on thinking cleaner referred to something/someone that/who cleans.
