Hi mags
Check the D in the first word (though I don't think the second of the double definitions is quite right!)

Hi Chris. The `d` is the one I`m most sure of. it`s in the clue "Includes hard sedimentary rock" = shard.
I thought it may be Latin because I can`t think of an English word P ? D ? S. I`ll try Crossword Solver.
Thank you for answering so quickly. mags.

OK mags - not sure about that one, but I'm fairly confident that the other is PRESS RELEASE
