The Times want to increase my subscription from £8.66/month (cheap) to £25 (expensive), so I am cancelling my subscription. Looks like I'll have to do the "free" Guardian in future.

Seems a huge jump?
The Guardian crossword is quite good, though.

They mustn't be worried about losing subscribers as they surely will.

Having spoken to two people who subscribe - they are both unaware of this increase.

Has anyone any links to the facts please?

As you can see, there are various packages. The £8.67 one is still available. The others vary in price according to which one you choose.

If you click on the "see more pricing" link, you will see that the £26 shows as follows:
£26.00
28 issues / 1 months
The Classic Pack 7 Day

Thanks for that - something is definitely afoot.

Friends have full 7 day access to the papers and supplements online + full access to the crossword club for £8.66 per month.

Investigations have begun.

Outcome.

Following a phone call - The Times has re jigged all it's packages and charges, but have been very remiss in informing everyone - indeed they have taken the higher charge from some customers with no warning ( and subsequently refunded).

My friend has moved onto the 'Classic Sunday Pack' as outlined above which also includes full access to the Crossword Club.

So a thank you from me for highlighting this issue Loftygraham.

What actually happened was that I had a letter from The Times to say that my long-term subscription at £8.66 per month, was going to be charged as the same as a new one from December at £6 per week.
When I rang to cancel it, various packages were suggested some not a lot dearer than what I pay at the moment but only accessible on a Sunday, so crosswords six days late?
In the end I just cancelled and will do the free Guardian crossword.
I shop at Waitrose anyway, where you get a free newspaper, if you spend £5 during the week.
I did like doing The Times 2 Crossword, though.
