Stuck on 7 down. Scandinavian boy and girl, first to identify evil manipulator (8)

I'm thinking that "Loki" forms part of the word but can't quite get there. I thought "gargoyle" at first but not convinced.

Having a bit of a hard time with this today. Three bottles of Sam Smith's "Winter Welcome" fogs the old grey cells sometimes.
