26 a Briefly calm speaker accepts point but one gets up to go. (5-6) I have ??t??l-?a?k?r looks like 'sweet-talker but this presents problem in 20 d ! see under.
20 d It's raised by social workers (7) - Looks like 'anthill' but this presents problem in 26 a above !

I don't follow: "sweet" does not fit with the letters you give!

Hence my difficulty with 20d which looks like 'anthill' gives me an 'I' where I want an 'e' .

I apologise for not identifying the puzzle involved here. It is the Sunday Herald Prize. The pattern for clue 26 a is S???T-?A?K?R. I was thinking 'Sweet Talker' but this throws out my solution to 20 d which I have as 'Anthill'.
