Ah, now I see that the 5th and 6th letters of 7 down represent "Soldiers" rather than the 5th coming from "with" with no explanation for the 6th. This has not been one of my better Listener solving performances!

I also have a full grid including the 12 letter word. I think I have the 5 answers with no definition, but I cannot see any connection that is meaningful. Neither can I see which 2 letters to change. Does the instruction mean change completely or just swap?
Any hint to shed light on my dilemma would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The connection - which is basic - should become clear if you do as instructed by the 12 letter word.

Change completely so that the word in question describes what the 5 undefined answers are.

I think that I have got it. Can anyone confirm (or otherwise) that the definition words start with L for the first word and B for the second. Many thanks.
