I know the answer to 8d (telephone engineer circling number (4)) is 'ring' but I just can't see why! Would be grateful for an explanation.

Rig = engineer/fix etc and n = number. Rig goes round/circles the n - Ri n g.

Thanks. Was thinking of 'engineer' as a noun not a verb.
