I think someone else mentioned being stuck on the bottom left hand corner. So indeed am I. 23A Well presented nautical film (5) and 21D Brighten up the floor (4). As usual I have had to struggle for ages - no solving in an hour and a half ever for me!! Two I have had to Quick Solve 2D that vineyard pest and I am sure we had this a few weeks ago and I had forgotten it! And also the fish bargepole which turns out to be a new word for me. Live and learn. Hope you are all well

Hi mondrian
The nautical film refers to a layer of oil on the sea.
The other is a nautical floor in fact, and also a word for decorate (with holly?)

hello Mondrian
Hope you are still there at the library ?
23a means "well presented" or "well-dressed" and is also an unpleasant "film" on the sea caused by a spillage.
21d is something you would do to "brighten" up the halls at Christmas.
HOpe this helps.

Thank you chrise. Apologies for my recent absence. Have been away helping someone just out of hospital with no help. Surprised to hear you say you found this one harder. I managed it, mostly. Best wishes

And to you, mondrian - very good of you to help. My wife helps look after a bedridden old employee and friend.

I must have been having a bad day!

Hi,
I found this the easiest for some time, except for 15A. Any clues on this please?

I wish you hadn't said that, bees! (see my earlier comment).

15a the "annual" is a flowering plant.
