31D "One got in frightful rage without right earth" (8). Answer is "Gardener", but why? Unlike others who have already posted, the parsing is clear to me, but I just can't see where the meaning come from. "One got in" cannot mean Gardener can it?

55A Shell-like, artificial bean covers insects (7). Answer is "earwigs", but help with parsing please. Assuming "bean" equates to "wig", that leaves "ears" equating to "shell-like". But why? Just don't get it.

Can anyone help please.
