Welcome to CLUELESS, our informal weekly clue-setting competition.

The idea is to compose a cryptic clue for a given word.

The winner sets the answer to be clued and judges the entries next week.

Multiple entries may be submitted, and new competitors are particularly welcome!

Feel free to add an explanation if you feel it will help.

To be fair to others, please do not make any comments on entries until after the winner has been declared.


Reasons for the final decision may or may not be given, at the judge’s discretion.
It is customary for the judge to donate a virtual prize to the winner.

(I'm not sure if "fair" before a verb - meaning "a lot", "muchly", or similar - is in common usage, or if it is dialect. I was brought up using it in Devon!)
