Still stumped by the second 'thematic'. Followed the advice earlier to look for a suitable word for 'strain' and do the letter move, but couldn't find a suitable word to modify to get any sensible answer which fitted the bill.
The preamble says that the answers are not of the same length, but an earlier correspondent said that they are.

Help, please.

The clues lack a common definition and length because it is not provided - therefore it is missing / lacking

mathsman - strain to move = heave. All three of the thematic answers are of 5 letters.
