I didn't realise he wanted just a hint.

No problem, dja - gaperon didn't say "hint"; I just decided to give one!

In fact (as you probably know), answers to Guardian clues are always there via the "Cheat" button online, (except for the Prize ones, of course), so I do tend to assume "Hint" of Guardian requests.

No I didn't know that as I get the paper rather than online version- that bit of info could well help me in the future. Particularly with some of the obscure words that Pasquale comes up with. Thanks for the tip.
