Once again folks a hard decision .
Things got off to a flying start with rambler@2 , so good that it almost took the prize - just a little bit lacking in the definition .
Other clues I particularly enjoyed were rosalind@6 ,ginge12 , aristo14 and les19 .

I don't often disagree with the decision, and even more rarely express my disagreement, but I only entered so that rambler @2 had something to beat (sorry, BBM2).

I know Chris , it was a great clue - but to me it says "Victoria is cross" maybe I'm being a bit picky .

I see what you mean, BBM, but I forgive it for it's cogency!

Anyway, each to his own.........
