Sorry, bobs mum. Spent much of yesterday frolicking in the Atlantic, then had trouble getting onto the site.

Though it doesn't seem possible that Herself was humorlessly vice-free, Victorian is certainly used as a synonym for prudish, and though disapproving may not strictly be a synonym for cross, I did find it as one in an online thesaurus, along with disagreeable (and a disapproving person is usually cross, wouldn't you say?). "Of" is not part of "disapproving of" but rather serves as the "equals" surrogate. "Little item that hardly covers bosom" is the definition. When worn on the chest the V.C. hardly covers it, but what it does cover it covers hardly. :) I used the question mark in acknowledgement of liberties taken.
