Thanks harrhy and ab. It is good to hear of alternative trains of thought. I've won the dictionary 3 times now - 2 of them passed to my kids - they now actually understand that batteries are not required/included and that looking something up in a good reference book can be a good alternative to a touch screen on a phone.
