40d. Blue representation of N² (8) - S?U?N?E? There are only about 3 or 4 words that fit this letter pattern ('Squander', Squinter' and 'Squinted') so I may have gone wrong or I'm missing something obvious.

squander- blue is an anagram of n squared?
