11 Across "Native American piranha, tailless (5)
We have C**O* at present, there is a native american tribe called the CONOY, but that gives us a word PN*D**S* down, which appears very strange and does not appear in the Chambers dictionary.
Anyone got any hints or tips?

If you have an error, there is a piranha called "Caribe"
That would give you "carib(e)"
