Can anyone who's completed the grid, identified the theme etc (as this will only make sense if you have!) help with 'symbolically inscribe with a circle'? It's the only step I have got left but can't see anything in the circling letters (in any possible circle) and a random inscribing either inside or outside the main theme words doesn't seem justifiable...

Looking at the preamble again I wonder if you just draw a circle through the theme words. Which seems a bit pointless ultimately.

Last time I was there the water was contained by a circular wall - inscribe means touching the points so that gives the diameter. Hope I am right. All this for a measly bottle of prosecco - times must be hard at The Indy!

Am in the same position as you barista.
What are we meant to inscribe?
"a name and another object" or just the object?

The name and the object together form a shape which represents the base of the 'real' object. Inscribing a circle within that base symbolically represents the raised part of the construction.

I have drawn a circle inside the 2 word square touching all of the letters- I think this represents the column itself

Sorry misread the last post- the names are people who are around the actual square on plinths rather than the one in the grid.

Once you have the names they are fairly easily located

the circle can be perfectly inscribed using 1p coin. I highlighted the square itself (12 cells) using one colour then the name of the square plus the three others in another colour. Ferret is a little ambiguous on this request.
