shade fits well Chris. as in the meaning of being a spirit

Yes, except that elf, fairy and orc are "living creatures" (if possibly fictional), whereas a shade is dead, so the connection isn't ideal.

All four are "imaginary" beings. I haven't experienced any of them and never wish to ! Lol

.......but the first three are imaginary beings with bodies, while the shade rather lacks that feature!

How about: all are figments of one's imagination ?

......or someone else's imagination?
