Welcome to Clueless, our informal weekly clue-setting competition.

The idea is to compose a cryptic clue for a given word.

The winner of the previous week’s competition sets the word to be clued and judges the entries for the current week.

The judge’s decision is final. Reasons may or may not be given, at the judge’s discretion.
It is customary for the judge to donate a virtual prize to the winner.

To be fair to others, please do not make any comments on entries until after the winner has been declared.

Multiple entries may be submitted, and new competitors are particularly welcome!

Feel free to add an explanation if you feel it will help.

Please submit your clues by GMT 20:00 on Wednesday, July 2.

This week's word to be clued is: MELLIFEROUS (11)

Due to time zone & work, I won't be able to tackle Wednesday's entries until GMT 24:00.
However, I shall endeavour to post the winner by the time most of you are enjoying your kippers & eggs on Thursday. (-;
I hope this isn't too much of an inconvenience.

As this is now no longer just a UK puzzle but world-wide, e.g. NA & Down-Under, perhaps we need to consider a different time scale.
Any ideas?

Re the above, if you submit a complex or obscure clue, perhaps a parse would help as we won't have time to discuss it. Thanks.

Also, is there a list of previous words? I thought someone mentioned that, but couldn't find it.

Well, on with the show.
