Cannot understand 20d: Butter potato beginning to dry up, upset abouty it. 7 letters. If it is adulate then I dont get the logic.

so a(d+ula)te

butter as in flatter

The last letter of both coincide and should be the same.

32 SEWN (hidden, reversed) - overcast is a sort of stitching.
