11a penny comes in to cut grass (5) s-l -- I have split but not convinced. Leaves me with 8d smooth, hard track (4) n-t- which I can't get . Thinking I've got something amiss in this top corner. Thanks in advance

To Split ,to tell on , to grass up.

slit - cut, around p - penny. Split = grass as in "tell on"

Path - Track

Smooth - Pat
Hard - H
