39d. Kept girl on board for some activity of doubtful legality (9) - SHADINESS fits the definition and 'On board' is probably SS but I can't see the rest.

Also, 35a. One who's charged a cricket club operator (7) - ACCUSER - A CC USER, but that would be the person doing the 'charging' not the 'one who's charged' - what am I missing?
