I'd say 'Granted' - franked doesn't really fit with 'allowed'.

......but Frank & Ed would be 2 men, and "to frank" in the context of the post/mail certainly means "to allow to pass " (because paid), so I think it's "franked" after all.

If the clue had been 'allowed to pass', I think 'franked' would work - but I feel Granted (Grant Ed) is better for the clue as it is.
