I'm having a problem with a clue, help would be appreciated.
clue is "Could be a tiny thing often used for a pair" (4)
So far I've got ? T ? M & I think the solution could be either atom or item but cannot see that one solution is any better than the other. Any thoughts appreciated.

However the pair could refer to Tom to make a drum in tom-tom? the atom is certainly a tiny thing, hence the dilemma, but thanks for the help.
