I think the AST is the extremes of Siberia + t for temperature.

FARE AS (when) T (Temperature is minimal? - don't like it much), Remotest Siberia is in the FAR EAST?

To be fair, the eastern most point of Siberia in its widest sense is further east than China and Japan and only 50 miles or so across the Bering Strait from Alaska, so Far East is fairly accurate.

Yes, I'm happy about that - it was the "minimal" that I thought was unnecessary.

btw quiz question - in which US states are the northernmost, southernmost, easternmost and westernmost points of the USA?
