Thought of that, but had only ever heard the expression "Heir to the throne".

And who's Brian?

Brian might be how Private Eye refer to Prince Charles (a guess) they call the Queen Brenda.

Sorry Gasmanjack, I missed your point. 'Heir to the crown' is a fairly common phrase for 'Heir to the throne'.
