The state of play is much better than when I last came on here, with especial thanks to Brendan's apparent insomnia.

However I'm still stuck on a few, especially in the lower half.

One exception to this is :
9D - German associate who shall be nameless attracting ironic response (9)
F?I?D?I?H
Also wouldn't object to help with :
46A - Fellow training in the past, not initially in shape (8)
H?????O?
57A - Raise meaning of belief every so often (7)
E?N????
&
58A - Expertly trained, our side left with one medal, unexpectedly (4-5)
W???-??M?D

As usual some of these letters may be misleading

Thanks to all who replied.

I thought of FRIEDRICH but couldn't for the life of me "see" the missing "n".

Guessed ENNOBLE but couldn't, again work it out.

Thanks, again, to those with sharper minds. I shall now wrestle with the remaining few
