My 11a is now looking dubious??
Thing every elder has about yellow waistcoat - only defo letter is O . I have ?O???? - went with lorica but can't parse it apart from the or=yellow?

I am also now left with only 7dn to get. The penny hasn't dropped re the theme either.

For 11A, I have 'bolero' - waistcoat. I think it's 'bole' which every tree ('every elder') has, with 'or'/yellow (and it's 'about' so reversed in the answer - bole ro).

I assumed compound xwordfan. Doesn't say there is a two word one.

need to go to specsavers - thought 6d was 7 letters, missed the d! Yes compound looks good!

And it has to be wych-hazels to get the hyphen I think.

Could it be anagrams of 37ac? e.g. Trees = wych-hazels. Must admit haven't spotted any others though.

Ester is a compound.
