This last one has perplexed me since Saturday......
24d. In itself 10 makes 10 then (4) .....?e?t
If "10" refers to the answer to clue 10ac., that is "u-turn".
I'm thinking it might be " lest ", which appears if " itself " performs a u-turn, but can't see the relevance of the rest of the clue!!!

As I said in another thread earlier today, as Dr. J. said of impending execution, posting in this forum concentrates the mind.
I have just realised the answer, and it's not "lest"!!!

X in TEN makes U-turn ---> NEXT (then)
